"Long-tailed tits can be seen in so many places, from garden to heathland and down by the river. Fast moving flocks who bit and bob through the trees, they are not always easy to follow as they are here and there and here again. But always a delight as they are so much smaller than you think they might be and utterly pretty! One of the most memorable times was when a huge flock of 40 or 50 were high up in some very tall trees by the river, the noise was astonishing! I properly struggled to see them as they were so high, I nearly lost my feet and fell in the river when I was bending back and looking up to see them! Note to self, always be aware of your surroundings before you start to follow birds flying high above you!"
